Climate Change and the Impact of Food Choices: an awareness campaign for rural communities

Raising awareness about the challenges of climate change and the impact of our food choices on the environment is essential to promoting agricultural practices that respect the planet and building a resilient and sustainable agricultural sector.

This is why CEF is taking concrete action through projects like Terre Mère and the event organized on September 28th at Village Prospettiva, aimed at promoting a holistic approach to agriculture.

This event, which aligned perfectly with CEF’s vision, brought together experts and women farmers to discuss organic farming, food diversity, and the impacts of climate change on agricultural practices.

Madame Elodie, CEF's nutritionist, opened the discussion by highlighting the virtues of a balanced, diverse, and healthy diet for family well-being. She encouraged participants to incorporate more local and nutritious foods into their daily meals, emphasizing the importance of food diversity in preventing diseases and promoting family health.

Monsieur Célestin, our agronomist, addressed the challenges posed by climate change on farming practices. He offered concrete solutions for adaptation, such as introducing resilient crop varieties and adopting sustainable resource management practices.

These discussions reinforced the vision of CEF, championed by the Terre Mère project, which advocates for a transition towards agroecology to ensure the resilience of women farmers and promote more sustainable agriculture.

The participants, mainly women farmers, shared their concerns about the timing for preparing soils for organic farming. Practical recommendations were discussed, including anticipating planting cycles and optimizing resource management to improve crop quality.

This day not only raised awareness among women about these crucial issues but also highlighted CEF's ongoing commitment to building a more resilient, sustainable, and environmentally respectful agricultural sector alongside local communities. By promoting agroecology, biodiversity preservation, and the fight against food waste, CEF contributes to a healthier and more prosperous future for all.
